“Rethinking:Xenakis Competition”
Commemorating the 100th anniversary since the birth of the prominent Greek composer Iannis Xenakis,
the Greek Composers Union organize an
International Competition.
Greek Composers’ Union
The Greek Composers’ Union was founded on June 8th 1931. Its main aims are the protection and promotion of the Greek musical creations, the development of solidarity between the Greek composers, and the protection of their professional and artistic rights. Since 1931, the Union has not relented in pursuing these goals, even during the Second World War.
The Greek Composers’ Union is the Greek Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (I.S.C.M.) since 2002.
Its members include the most distinguished Greek composers such as Dimitris Mitropoulos, Manolis Kalomiris, Nikos Skalkottas, Antiochos Evangelatos, Iannis Xenakis, Jani Christou, George Sisilianos and Theodore Antoniou.
Ένωσις Ελλήνων Μουσουργών
Η Ένωση Ελλήνων Μουσουργών ιδρύθηκε στις 8 Ιουνίου του 1931 με σκοπό την προστασία και προαγωγή της ελληνικής μουσικής δημιουργίας, την ανάπτυξη της αλληλεγγύης μεταξύ των Ελλήνων συνθετών, και την περιφρούρηση των υλικών και πνευματικών τους συμφερόντων. Από την εποχή εκείνη η Ένωση εργάζεται με συνέπεια, ζήλο και αποφασιστικότητα για την ευόδωση των στόχων της, χωρίς διακοπή ακόμα και κατά την περίοδο του Β’ παγκοσμίου πολέμου.
Αποτελεί το Eλληνικό Tμήμα του Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Σύγχρονης Μουσικής (I.S.C.M.) από το 2002.
Μέλη της έχουν διατελέσει σημαντικοί Έλληνες δημιουργοί μεταξύ των οποίων οι Δημήτρης Μητρόπουλος, Νίκος Σκαλκώτας Μανώλης Καλομοίρης, Αντίοχος Ευαγγελάτος, Ιάννης Ξενάκης, Γιάννης Χρήστου, Γιώργος Σισιλιάνος, και Θόδωρος Αντωνίου.
